We are the fans, boosters, publicists and internet mavens of NPD High -- sometimes known as Valencia High -- home of the most respected and feared football program in the entire CIF Southern Section.
While we certainly don't want to stir up any envy or jealousy, there are several NPD High football achievements that merit adulation.
The numbers tell the whole story:
We've played in and lost three Southern Section Football Championship games!
In the 2004 Championship game, we lost by a mere twenty-eight points, our best effort ever!
We were one of only five teams to beat Newhall High in 2004 -- and it only took us eleven tries to do it!
We replicated that magnificent achievement in 2008. We were one of only six teams to beat Newhall High that year!
We were the Foothill League champions for one consecutive year!
We once scored seventy points in a game. Against Burbank!
We have the finest football stadium in the Santa Clarita Valley, sitting atop a wind-swept hill with fall temperatures rivaling our namesake Minnesota Vikings and offering an unobstructed view from every seat in the NPD-house -- except for a few hundred behind the light poles, and of course, a couple of thousand that are so low that the only thing the fans can see are the backsides of the chain gang. What really matters is that -- with all our accomplishments -- everyone clearly understands that we are entitled to that stadium.
We are indeed special. It truly is unfortunate that we can only be understood by other unique, high-status people.
